Description

Summary

A Person-Centred Approach to Security Risk Management (SRM) considers the diverse personal profiles of personnel and identifies the differentiated context-specific risks and measures that need to be put in place to ensure that the resultant level of risk is acceptable for everyone. This event will explore how security risk management integrates diverse personal characteristics of personnels and ensures considerations are made for gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, tribal affiliation, religion, ethnicity, and more.

Panellists will discuss the real-life challenges they have faced, as well as the opportunities it has brought when taking a more inclusive approach to security. Good practices will be shared by both NGOs and the UN to demonstrate the necessity of inclusivity within SRM. Practical tools will be introduced to facilitate the implementation of a Person-Centred Approach.
