Mary’s Meals are recruiting for an experienced Global Security & Risk Lead to join their Risk & Assurance team. In this exciting new role, you will have responsibility for the oversight of all security arrangements and incident responses across their global network.

Reporting to their Head of Risk & Assurance and working closely with their highly experienced volunteer Security & Risk Advisor, you will have responsibility for enhancing their existing framework of security processes, working with their Programme based Security & Risk Managers to drive continuous improvement and prompt appropriate responses to emerging global security risks, incidents, and crises. With proven experience of working in a complex security & risk focussed role for an NGO, ideally working across a geographically dispersed remit, you will bring a calm, confident and person focussed approach to effectively safeguarding their people, assets, and resources. Mary’s Meals reach children in 20 countries including Malawi, Zambia, Liberia, Kenya, Haiti, South Sudan and Ethiopia.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Guiding their local Security & Risk Managers on the security measures necessary to safeguard their people and assets within their offices and in the field.
  • Taking the lead on Mary’s Meals initiatives and projects requiring a security and risk perspective.
  • Maintaining, reviewing, and refining their processes for responding, tracking, and reporting of security and risk incidents for MMI, their affiliates and their programme partners.
  • Identifying and developing solutions to address knowledge and compliance gaps relating to our security processes and incident responses
  • Leading on the development and maintenance of comprehensive Disaster and Crisis Management Plans (DCMP) for MMI and their programme affiliates and support local Crisis Management Teams as required.
  • Developing and implementing a regular testing programme to ensure their plans are effective and staff are prepared to handle a live crisis.
  • Acting as a whistleblowing contact for MMI through regularly monitoring, triaging, and responding to concerns of suspected wrongdoing that are raised through their whistleblowing routes.
  • Supporting on risk & security strategy development, annual planning, and implementation.

With extensive experience of advising on global security protocols and effective crisis and incident management, in a variety of environments, you will have experience of developing strong relationships and demonstrate fantastic stakeholder management skills. Positive, flexible, with an analytical approach, you will bring proven experience of detailed reporting and managing investigations. You will have a desire to share your knowledge and build capacity across the Mary’s Meals family, training and supporting staff and volunteers. Approachability and the ability to influence at all levels is essential.

This is a global role and Mary’s Meals are happy for you to work remotely. There will be a requirement for some travel to countries where Mary’s Meals operates, as part of your role.

Mary’s Meals is a global movement supported by people from all walks of life and they are focused on one goal – that every child receives a nutritious daily meal in a place of education. They continue to change the lives of over 2 million children who today will receive Mary’s Meals. They are a values-driven organisation, they believe in the innate goodness of people, respect the dignity of every human being and family life and believe in good stewardship of the resources entrusted to them.
