Description | What we doThe International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations. PurposeThe Security & Crisis Management Capacity Building Officer managed under the direct supervision of the Global Capacity Building (CB) Coordinator, will primarily focus on the Capacity Building function within the SCMS Division’s work, with an emphasis on developing the Crisis Management Simulation (CMS) approach. The incumbent reports to the Security Capacity Management Simulation Capacity Building Coordinator at Headquarters to ensure alignment with divisional priorities and will collaborate extensively with Regional Security and Crisis Management Advisors (SCMA) and Field Security and Crisis Management Coordinators (FSCM-Co) to deliver effective and tailored CMS initiatives across diverse operational contexts. Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities• Perform a Crisis Management Simulation (CMS) needs analysis in priority delegations to assess their training requirements in security & crisis management and evaluate their capacity to independently implement CMS; Certifications / Education required• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences (Master’s degree is an advantage); • Proficiency in English and French (written and verbal); working knowledge of Spanish and Arabic is an asset.
Professional Experience required• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience, or 5+ years in training design and delivery with another organization; Our Values
