Biography | Ian is a senior safeguarding and protection professional with more than 20 years’ experience across gender, sexual gender-based violence, child protection, safeguarding and the AAP / PSEAH sectors globally. He has been working as a consultant since January 2020 after a successful career within the multi-lateral and NGO sectors. Since starting as a consultant, he has supported organisations strengthen their safeguarding frameworks, develop awareness-raising community engagement plans, design community-based complaints mechanisms and survivor-centred responses, develop training materials and undertake M&E and research exercises. Ian is a CHS Alliance trained investigator and has led on investigations for the NGOs he has been working for. Ian has strong international development, humanitarian and conflict experience globally – this spanning the following countries: Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Malawi, South Sudan, Ghana, Palestine, the Eastern Caribbean, USA, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Palestine, Uzbekistan. In addition to his safeguarding expertise, he is also highly skilled in gender, child rights, education, disability, peacebuilding and child protection programming areas. Ian has strong facilitation and interpersonal skills and has extensive experience with influencing stakeholders in both upstream and downstream settings. He is an excellent researcher and writer and has a strong publications’ history. His mother-tongue is English. |
