Description

MAG Trustee: Defence & Security Focal Point

MAG is seeking at least one new Trustee with deep experience and strategic insight in the defence, security, or military sectors.

This role is crucial to ensuring MAG remains a trusted, informed, and influential voice at the critical intersection of humanitarian action and global security particularly at a time when norms around disarmament, arms control, and civilian protection are under increasing strain.

As MAG confronts a rapidly evolving conflict landscape – from Gaza to Sudan, Myanmar to Ukraine – the complexity of modern warfare, the proliferation of explosive weapons in populated areas, and the rollback of disarmament commitments threaten the safety and dignity of civilians.

Meanwhile, a shift in international priorities towards domestic security and militarisation challenges the visibility and resourcing of humanitarian disarmament efforts.

In this context, MAG requires a Trustee who can bring strategic defence and security expertise to help guide the organisation through these intersecting risks and opportunities. This role offers a rare opportunity to help shape the future of humanitarian policy and operations at a global level.
