GISF ‘Digital Security’ is now available on Disaster Ready’s website!

We partnered with Disaster Ready to turn our ‘Digital Security’ module into a short, interactive course accessible on their platform. The module outlines basic measures that ensure sound digital practices and mitigate risks faced by operations and staff.

The COVID-19 pandemic serves as a stark reminder of how integral technology has become to aid work. Not only does technology facilitate contact between staff but it is oftentimes integral to the day-to-day monitoring of programmes and other activities. With most of us now spending our days behind screens, it is important to take a step back and ask ourselves some key questions about the devices and technologies we use.

  • How safe are the apps and communications channels you use (Zoom, Skype, etc.)?
  • How would an internet blackout affect your operations?
  • Does your organisation consider online harassment related COVID-19 (i.e. xenophobia) as incidents?

This module provides core guidance for aid agencies to review their existing processes and integrate digital security into all of their security risk management processes.
